UP welcomes individual, ongoing volunteers to help in our administrative office, at special events, and during our enrichment and after school programs. Applications and background checks will be completed for all ongoing volunteers. All programs have different volunteer needs, so a diverse group of volunteers are needed to support each program. Below are the ongoing volunteer opportunities available.

Joining our team of volunteers is a powerful way to make a difference in the lives of children and youth throughout St. Louis. Your time and talent help us create the educational and empowering experiences that allow young people to build on their strengths and reach their full potential.

Volunteer Opportunities

Whether you can give a few hours a month or a couple of days a year, we have a role for you. We welcome individuals and groups to support our programs, events, and administrative needs. Find the opportunity that’s the right fit for you!

Program Support

Become a mentor, tutor, or classroom assistant in our After School or Summer Enrichment programs. You’ll work directly with students, helping with homework, leading activities, and being a positive role model.

Special Events

We host several fundraising and community events throughout the year. Volunteers are essential for everything from event setup and registration to greeting guests and running activities. It’s a fun, high-energy way to contribute!

Administrative Help

Help our mission run smoothly from behind the scenes. We often need support with data entry, mailings, and other organizational tasks at our main office.

How to Get Started

We welcome volunteers ages 16 and up. To ensure the safety of the children in our programs, all ongoing volunteers are required to complete an application and a background check. Here’s how our simple process works:

1. Submit an Application

Fill out our online volunteer application to tell us about your interests and availability.

2. Chat With Our Team

We’ll schedule a brief interview to get to know you and find the perfect volunteer role.

3. Background Check

For ongoing roles, you’ll complete a routine background check to ensure a safe environment for our kids.
