Strengthening Resilient Families partners with families to strengthen their core foundation with sustainable resources and build stability. Our approach relies on positive, mutually beneficial relationships between youth and their families, peers, schools, workplaces and communities that allow youth to enhance their knowledge, interests, skills and abilities.
Our programs give youth access to staff, resources and opportunities that help them in identifying who they are and becoming who they want to be. Through our coaching and guidance, they are able to build the competencies, skills and abilities needed to have a productive life and contribute to their community.
While our support changes to meet the evolving interests and needs of youth, our efforts have included:
The Glenn L. Moller, Jr. Memorial Scholarship is for students from the City of St. Louis and St. Louis County who have overcome adversity to prepare for future success. Preference will be given to applicants who have been touched and affected by the programs of Unleashing Potential (formally Neighborhood Houses). High School seniors, high school graduates and current college students are eligible to apply. Recipients will demonstrate financial need at an eligible two-year or four-year public college, university or technical college and may apply for renewal of the award for three additional undergraduate years.
The St. Louis Community Foundation facilitates the application process for this scholarship. However, individuals attached to UP get priority.
William Diersing was a devoted employee of Unleashing Potential (formerly Neighborhood Houses), and he had a particular interest in encouraging the continuing education of families enrolled in Unleashing Potential programs. The William Diersing Scholarship Fund was created by a gift from William Diersing after his passing. Since that time, friends and relatives have made additional gifts to the fund, and scholarships have been awarded to help individuals achieve their educational goals. The scholarship is a demonstration of Bill’s belief in the mission of Unleashing Potential and in the families with whom we partner.
This scholarship is for those who are pursuing a college or vocational degree or certification that will assist the applicant toward their chosen career goal. Only current participants and/or current parents of children in Unleashing Potential’s programs who have completed high school or have earned their GED are eligible to apply. This fund is to be used exclusively for scholarships to cover the cost of tuition, books, child care, transportation, vocational training and/or any other educational supplies/support that will help the recipient to achieve their life aspirations.

“Our children attend the before and after school program at Flynn Park 3 days a week. My husband and I are so pleased with the quality programming that is provided! Racheal and the other staff members create such a caring a structured environment, it is more than impressive. It is hard to be a working parent, but it’s so nice to feel that our children are in such a wonderful environment.” – Flynn Park Parent
