Unleashing Potential provides high quality, curriculum-based before and after school programs in St. Louis City and County at 9 locations.
In the state of Missouri, 2 out of 3 children do not have access to before or after school programs, leaving them with a significant amount of unsupervised time that can reduce academic success and influence unsafe and unhealthy behaviors.
UP After School is a safe and educational option for parents, and it is an enhancement to a child’s regular classroom learning. The program provides a curriculum-based approach to math, literature, character education, fitness and nutrition.
High quality enrichment activities expose children to cultural arts and encourage creative expression in a supportive environment. Unleashing Potential is proud to partner with various organizations across the St. Louis region and provide these experiences to our children.
In addition to artistic development, the program includes the Conscious Discipline curriculum, a research-based behavior management model that empowers staff to use everyday conflicts to teach children self regulation and important life skills that encourage pro-social behavior.

Conscious Discipline is a comprehensive classroom management program and a social-emotional curriculum. It is based on current brain research, child development information and developmentally appropriate practices. Conscious Discipline has been specifically designed to make changes in the lives of adults first. This research-based behavior management curriculum model empowers staff to use everyday conflicts to teach children life skills and encourage pro-social behaviors while increasing their own social and emotional awareness
To be successful, those involved require a willingness to learn, impulse control, and attention.

Maria knew the basics of her fantasy story. But she kept getting stuck. Luckily, her site manager also liked to write and knew a thing or two about the creative writing process.
When Deonna first entered Unleashing Potential’s before- and after-care as a second grader, she felt a little scared. She already knew a few of the kids, but she didn’t know any of the adults. That was ok, though, because Unleashing Potential has social-emotional learning built into our curriculum that helped her come out of her shell.
A week of hard work led up to it, but, on Friday, Harper and her friends were ready to rip the runway. At Griffith Elementary in the Ferguson-Florissant School District, the kids in Unleashing Potential’s Afterschool program had designed cardboard shoes, and Friday was the Fashion Show where they would show off their designs to their parents.
Kinsley loves slime. Her best friend knows how to make over a dozen different types, and during Covid-19, Kinsley watched videos of child Youtubers making it. So when Ms. Shawnica and Ms. Zoe introduced an experiment where the children could choose between making different types of slime, Kinsley was all-in.
At first, Cal was nervous. He’d never really been on stage and, even though it was mostly his peers in the afterschool program, a bunch of new faces were filtering in through the gym doors of Griffith Elementary School – family coming for the Unleashing Potential Talent Show.
