How Summer Enrichment Pulled Kaden out of His Shell

Program: Enrichment Camps

Kaden had just finished playing a game of Fortnite with some of his peers from summer enrichment…and with others from across the globe.

He was at Gamers Island, 248 S Florissant Rd in Ferguson, on a field trip via Unleashing Potential’s summer enrichment program. They’d come from Church of the Master to play video games.

Kaden enjoyed playing video games because it was a chance to engage in friendly competition and make new friends.

In fact, that was his favorite aspect of Unleashing Potential’s summer enrichment. The first day had been kind of scary, because he didn’t know anybody. Plus, he was the first person to arrive. But the second person to show up had been a girl named Jocelyn, and she was “energetic like she knew everybody,” Kaden said.

Soon the table they were sitting at was full, and everybody was talking. As the program went on, and the kids engaged in fun activities, like flying drones and making designs for their keychains, they grew closer. Church of the Master averages about 20 children a day, which is a perfect balance of being big enough to have variety but small enough for the kids to become close-knit.

Kaden likes camp because it gives him fun things to do each day, and he enjoys getting to do the activities with his new friends.

“This camp is the best,” he said.
