UP at Caroline Mission uses an evidence-based curriculum taught by dedicated, nurturing teachers who guide children as they begin to unleash their potential.
UP staff works diligently to administer a high-quality program with the explicit goal of ensuring that the children are equipped to enter kindergarten emotionally, socially and cognitively ready for learning.
Given that more than 75% of the children served reside with families earning less than $20,000 annually, (65% of which are headed by single mothers and 30% by teens); UP’s staff recognizes the obstacles that these families face in meeting the developmental needs of their children. Therefore, the program focuses on influencing the social, educational and professional future of a child’s life, a responsibility not taken lightly.
Conscious Discipline is a comprehensive classroom management program and a social-emotional curriculum. It is based on current brain research, child development information, and developmentally appropriate practices. Conscious Discipline® has been specifically designed to make changes in the lives of adults first. This research based behavior management curriculum model empowers staff to use everyday conflicts to teach children life skills and encourage pro-social behaviors while increasing their own social and emotional awareness
To be successful, those involved require a willingness to learn, impulse control, and attention.

Joy had never worked with drawing in a classroom setting. That is, until Unleashing Potential provided art canvases to each of our afterschool sites.
A field trip by some of the children from Caroline Mission to the St. Louis Science Center helped one young boy in particular, Kingston, to expand his curiosity!
Asher was severely underweight and experienced persistent acid reflux. The lack of nutrition caused hair loss. Asher also demonstrated significant delays in reaching critical milestones. At 18 months, he was neither walking nor talking. Leilani sought help anywhere she could. Eventually, through recommendations from friends, she enrolled Asher at Caroline Mission, Unleashing Potential’s Early Childhood Education Center.
