Who Can Attend?
Children must be entering 1st-6th grade. Child must have completed kindergarten.
Weeks 1 & 2: Who I Am
Youth will explore their identities on a social & emotional level, as well as from a Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math (STEAM) perspective. Activities include DNA extraction using fruit, analyzing fingerprints, creating avatars for their personal video game creation and self portraits using a variety of art mediums. Field trips include Microsoft and Myseum.
Weeks 3 & 4: Where I’m From
Campers will investigate who and what has shaped their identities from their families and culture, including an exploration of the greater St. Louis community. Activities will include walking tours and scavenger hunts, building their family tree, Lego creations of local landscapes and field trips to historical landmarks.
Weeks 5 & 6: Where I’m Going
Youth will have the opportunity to explore their futures and gain exposure to a variety of educational paths and potential career fields. What does the future look like? College? Trade School? Start-up business? What careers are out there? Youth will have the opportunity to engage with guest presenters from various professions and create a road map for their future careers. Activities include field trips to local colleges and universities, participating in a token economy, opportunities to design and create their own t-shirt, and meet local authors, business owners and professionals in their communities.
Weeks 7 & 8: All Things STEAM
Campers will prepare for the STEAM fair in week 7 where students will showcase their talents and all that they have learned and completed throughout the summer.
Week 8: Fun in the Sun
Week 8 will be fun in the sun as participants enjoy a full week of Wacky Water Play Activities.
